Attention please!!!  This site's primary consideration is finding businesses in the
Poconos.  I am not affiliated with any person, company, organization or service.  The information on
this site is for the benefit of the consumer, so that one might find what they are looking for, in one place,
24/7. 

I refuse to 'litter' the pages with paid advertising - giving the other listed businesses an unfair advantage.  Visitors always go to the 'display' ads section to learn more about a particular business, so people will see your ad.

Have you noticed it's getting more difficult to find those 'free' papers in the stores?  I shop at two major groceries.  It used to be that there were piles of those free periodicals, now I'm lucky to find a couple, if at all.  This site has been up and running, in the same place for almost two years now.  We're always here.  People can find you in the same place, time after time, day or night, any day of the week.

Rates for seasonal businesses.

It was brought to my attention by one business owner that some businesses are busy during certain times of the year, greatly more so than at other times.  Given his advertising budget, he suggested I have 'seasonal' advertising, so a company wouldn't be paying for an ad during their 'off' season.  I've come up with the following plan.  If your company is indeed 'seasonal', I will provide you with a display ad for the number of months you wish, or any month(s) you wish, and charge you one additional month in order to keep your minimal information year 'round in the sample below.

You can have your own website with your company name, or any available name that you prefer as the website address, ie;, Henrys underwater paving.com,  for only $350.00.  This includes design, set up, registration, hosting and maintenance for the first year.   YOU maintain the rights to your site!  I've seen several contractor sites that were made from stock 'templates'.   Those sites don't include an email address - ours do. Those sites don't include pictures - ours can.  If you don't have access to email, that's okay, we can call you with your messages, have an automatic response generated to any email you receive instructing the sender what to do, or we can send them to you via fax or regular mail.  You, the customer, is our concern.  Needless to say, the more we can do for you, the happier you will be with us.  Call 619-4060  or email gerryjj@verizon.net  and we can get you going within a few days.

Why your own website?  First of all, it's 2006.  People like to use computers to check things out.  It's convenient, they don't have to be dressed, they can enjoy a beverage while checking things out, etc.  Many of you don't have a store or showroom.  How does a prospective customer get to 'see' what you can do.  On a website, you can have pictures of your work.  People get home from work, eat dinner and want to relax.  They can go online and check you out.  You don't want calls after a long work day (well, ya do if it means business) and good people don't like to call late.  They can email you, and like them, you can check it out at your convenience.  There is one contractor who checks his emails around 4:30a.m., with his morning coffee.  Here's a question for you - do you think a prospective customer would be more inclined to use someone with a listing, or small ad in a phone book/newspaper, provided they are looking in the right publication where your ad is, or, go with someone who has a website that they can visit at their leisure, read about your services, see some of your work, see a 'complete' listing of all that you do, etc. ?

Additionally, you can advertise 'specials', utilize coupons, put out lost leaders, whatever you can think of, for as long or as short a time period as you want.

I have a habit/trait of being (almost) brutally honest.  Having a website doesn't mean that you can sit back and wait for business to roll in.  You have to make people aware of your website.  The difference is that most contractors, services and smaller stores don't have one - so right there that gives you a leg up, so to speak.  On your site, you can show and tell a lot more than you can over the phone.  It's really the way business is done nowadays.  As I've mentioned in other places, how many small local papers are there?  How many 'editions' of phone books are there.  How much can you afford to advertise in the major newspapers.  With your own website, you get people visiting who are interested in what you do, or sell.  Dollar for dollar, it's the smartest way you can spend advertising dollars. 

My site ranks at the top of the search engines.  It's not because of what I do, but 'how' I do it.  There is a ton of 'behind the scenes' stuff that helps dictate how a site ranks with the search engines.  That same knowledge and success would be applied to your website.

A note to prospective advertisers.  You place an ad in a newspaper, such as the freebies distributed in stores, etc.  Someone picks up the paper and takes it home.  Now, when they go to read it, are they looking for you?  Are they looking for an ad?  Generally they are looking for the articles, and skim by the ads.  They may see your ad and they probably don't pay attention to it.  I mean, who picks up one of those things and says, "Gee, I hope there is an ad in here for a "your trade" in this issue.  And if they do spot your ad, what's the chances they are looking for someone who does what you do?   Slim to none, I'd say.   Now having said that, I do believe that it is good to try and keep your name in front of people, by whatever means you can.  For most of us, we can't afford to advertise in everything we'd like to, and certainly not as much as we'd like to.

When people visit this site, they are looking for a contractor or a service or a vendor.  Those freebie periodicals are, for the most part, region based, within the Poconos.  This site is for all of the Poconos, and my advertising will be to the Pocono community at large, not just a few sections.  They don't have to be in a certain location to pick up one of those things.  They can access this site from all over, including their workplaces.  Someone working in New Jersey, looking for a contractor in the Poconos can find you from their workplace.  Heck, someone from out of the area who vacations here, or is moving here, can find you here - they don't need to be here to find you.

There are a lot of things a web developer has to do to insure a site is found when someone searches certain words, and I have done everything possible to that end.

    I advertise the site - in 'free' publications and via my own brochures in stores.  I am expanding my advertising base to extend to more of the Poconos.  Regardless, the site, and search engines are available throughout the poconos, country, and the world.    90% of our visitors are from the poconos, 10% outside the poconos, and only .2% from out of the country.  Your ad can be seen by someone in California who plans to visit the Poconos, or by someone in Florida, who has a summer home here in the Poconos.  It makes good sense to advertise on this site.  This is one heck of a bargain for your advertising dollar.  Sign up - you'll be glad you did  :-)
